Gaggia Classic E24: documented specs, setup, and care

The current Classic generation's verified specifications, Gaggia's priming and descaling guidance, and an honest note on the one care-page conflict we flagged.

Every fact below is from Gaggia's official documentation (the gaggia.com Classic E24 page and the Gaggia North America store), verified 2026-09-24. We claim no hands-on testing.

Which machine is this?

The Classic E24 is the current generation of Gaggia's Classic line — sold in North America as the "Classic Pro E24," which Gaggia NA describes as the newest version of the machine, now with a solid lead-free brass boiler. The earlier Classic Pro record covers the previous generation; a documented spec-by-spec comparison is queued rather than guessed here.

Documented specifications

  • Solid lead-free brass boiler and group head; 58 mm stainless steel portafilter
  • 15 bar pump; 3-way solenoid valve that dries the puck after brewing
  • Professional stainless steel steam wand
  • Brushed stainless steel, 17-gauge single-piece body
  • Rocker buttons with indicator lights; stainless cup warmer sized for five cups
  • 20 × 35.5 × 27 cm; 8.1 kg
  • Power: 120 V 60 Hz 1350 W (US); 230 V 50 Hz 1200 W (EU); 220 V 1100 W (KR) — match your region's unit
  • In the box: plastic tamper and 3 filters

Setup and priming (per Gaggia)

Rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh water; open the steam/hot-water knob slowly counter-clockwise; press the brew and steam buttons and dispense the whole tank through the steam wand; refill and run a full tank through the group. Gaggia also suggests turning the machine on a few minutes before use and pre-heating cups on the warmer plate.

Care and maintenance (per Gaggia)

  • Descale every two months, or whenever you notice reduced water flow.
  • Wash the filter and the inside of the portafilter under tap water — not in the dishwasher.
  • Removable, washable components include the water tank and the drip tray with its plate.

Flagged for review: Gaggia's shared care page mentions a pannarello attachment on some steps. The E24 ships with a professional steam wand, so those steps appear to be template content — we are confirming against the E24-specific manual rather than presenting them as fact.

Buying

At check (2026-09-24) Gaggia NA lists the E24 at $549.00 in brushed stainless steel and $599.00 in eight colorways (Cherry Red, Classic Blue, Thunder Black, Polar White, Industrial Gray, Lobster Red, Jungle Green, Sunshine Yellow). Current prices live in the buying options on the Classic E24 page.
