Tally Pro Precision Scale: modes, battery life, precision, and care

How Tally Pro's Brew Assist, Timer, and Weight modes work, what the rechargeable battery delivers per charge, and the care routine Fellow documents.

Every fact below is from Fellow's official documentation, verified 2026-09-24. Dated prices and stock are in the buying options on the Tally Pro page — we keep prices out of this guide so they don't go stale here.

The three modes

Tally Pro has three modes, toggled by the mode button next to the dial:

  • Brew Assist™ — calculates your ratio in grams as you pour, so you hit your targets without a calculator.
  • Timer — a silent timer with the weight shown side by side, for brewers who work from memorized recipes.
  • Weight — plain weighing in grams, ounces, pounds, or milliliters of water.

Battery and charging

The scale is rechargeable — it is not meant to live plugged in. Fellow documents roughly 13 hours of continuous use per charge, about one charge every 1–2 months for a typical owner, and 1–2 hours to fully charge over USB-C. The display dims after two idle minutes and the scale auto-powers-off after ten unless a timer is running. Low battery flashes at power on/off, and plugging or unplugging the cable shows the charge level. The battery is not user-replaceable.

Precision and care

  • Readability and repeatability are documented at 0.1 g, with fast-stabilizing readings.
  • Accuracy needs a flat, stable surface and the documented ambient range (5–40 °C operating; −20–60 °C storage, up to 90% relative humidity).
  • No heat pad needed — the weigh pan shields the load cell, so you can weigh brew water directly.
  • Cleaning and maintenance instructions are in the included Safety Manual, and Fellow documents a calibration procedure in its help center.

Practical use and limits

Brew Assist is aimed at pour-over; Timer and Weight cover any weighing task up to the 2,500 g capacity. Fellow's documentation notes accuracy depends on a stable environment — weigh on a flat surface away from temperature extremes rather than assuming lab conditions.
