Fellow kettle generations: Stagg EKG vs Stagg Pro vs XL

What actually changed between Stagg kettle editions — features, capacity, and the pricing question Fellow's family page doesn't answer cleanly.

The Stagg EKG family now spans three editions plus an XL option. Here is what Fellow documents, verified 2026-09-22 — pricing per edition is the big open question.

The generations

Stagg EKG (base) — the original LCD gooseneck: 30 oz / 0.9 L, to-the-degree temperature control, counterweighted handle, 2.5 ft cord, FCC certified.

Stagg Pro / Pro Studio — the documented upgrades: full-color LCD, scheduling in advance (wake to a hot kettle), Guide Mode (guided pouring), and customization. Capacity stays 0.9 L per authorized-retailer listings (Kofio, Crate & Barrel) — the family page's 1.5 L figure belongs to the XL capacity option, a separate choice.

The XL option — a 1.5 L (50 oz) capacity variant listed on the family page for households that outgrow 0.9 L.

Is upgrading worthwhile?

Documented gains from base to Pro: scheduling, Guide Mode, color LCD, customization. If none of those change your routine, the base EKG's core function — repeatable temperature and pour control — is the same. This is a features upgrade, not a documented performance upgrade; we make no claim that the Pro heats or pours better.
