Breville 54 mm vs 58 mm: which accessories fit your machine
Breville runs two portafilter sizes across its home line — here is exactly what fits what, from the manufacturer's own accessory listings.
Breville's espresso machines come in two portafilter classes, and the accessories are not interchangeable. This is documented on Breville's own product and comparison pages, checked 2026-09-22.
The 54 mm family
Barista Express, Barista Pro, and the Bambino line use the 54 mm stainless steel portafilter with:
- Single and dual wall filter baskets (1 & 2 cup) — dual wall for forgiving/pre-ground coffee, single wall for hands-on dialing-in
- The Razor 54 precision dose trimming tool — trims the puck to a consistent height
- Dosing Funnel attachment (documented for the Pro) for cleaner grinding into the basket
- Manual removable magnetic tamper (Pro and Dual Boiler both)
The 58 mm family
The Dual Boiler (BES920) uses a commercial grade 58 mm portafilter with its own 58 mm Razor, 58 mm single/dual wall baskets, and Breville's Naked Portafilter 58 mm (BEA304) sold as a documented accessory on the Dual Boiler's product page. The 58 mm class also aligns with the wider prosumer accessory world (e.g., the Rancilio Stile and La Marzocco home lines documented in this archive).
Practical cautions
- Baskets and Razor tools do not cross between 54 mm and 58 mm machines.
- When buying third-party accessories, do not assume nominal 58 mm fits — check the exact model's documentation; this archive only records manufacturer-documented compatibility.
- Water filters and cleaning kits are line-wide Breville consumables; the Dual Boiler and Pro both document a water filter and cleaning kit in the box.
